Delicious crunchy green beans sauteed with garlic and butter! Sounds yummy even for my kids who don’t usually like green beans. The recipe is very easy to follow and i have step by step photos of the cooking process too.

How long do you boil green beans

If you use my method of cooking green beans, try to boil them first in a big pot of water for 5 minutes. Then quickly drain them and transfer to the skillet for a quick saute. Green beans are not taking too long to cook, its very easy to make them too soft and mushy. So watch your time closely!

This side dish recipe will be one of the easiest on my site. Quick note: trimming green beans takes actually more time then cooking them!

Garlic butter sauteed green beans tips

For best results use fresh garlic. Just mince it and add when the butter is hot for the best flavor. I don’t like using premade minced garlic sold in most stores that much but it definitely saves time.

You can use garlic powder in this recipe. That’s easy and not messy at all. Just add 1 teaspoon of powder either to melted butter or right on top of green beans while cooking. Not the best method but definitely quick an easy.

I used unsalted butter, this way use can see how much salt you put yourself. But of course its optional.

What to eat it with

Green beans are a classic dish at the Holiday season. Make them on Thanksgiving or Christmas and pair with delicious beef roast, whole roasted chicken or turkey.

Its also yummy to top bean with some cranberry sauce and serve next to garlicky mashed potatoes.

If you own a smoker, try some of my favorite Holiday recipes like smoked whole turkey and smoked pork ribs.

Leftovers

Cooked green beans will stay fresh in the fridge for up to 4 days. Reheat in the microwave. Yes you can freeze green beans. Best if you freeze it in freezer friendly air tight containers. It will help with the flavor when you will be reheating it.

I like to eat green beans leftovers next day. They are still so flavorful when reheated and pair really well with other leftovers.

You can also reheat it in air fryer. Just add beans in to the air fryer basket and heat at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 3-5 minutes. They will be crispy and delicious!

Well, this dish is great not only for Thanksgiving. Try to make this garlic butter sauteed green beans for a family weekend dinner. Its also easy enough to cook during the week or to bring to a friends potluck. So good hot or cold!

More side dishes to try:

  1. Sauteed vegetables
  2. Brussels sprouts and bacon recipe
  3. Instant pot mashed butternut squash
  4. Instant Pot collard greens with bacon
