This healthy pineapple whip recipe is a copycat of that delicious frozen treat served at Disney parks. Make and serve on a hot summer day to be transported back to the magic kingdom theme parks, any time, day or night.

Need a delicious frozen treat this summer? One that doesn’t make you feel guilty for enjoying something cold and sweet? This is one of those great recipes that “whip” up in minutes! (pun intended). And it tastes like the real thing!

Easy Recipes

These types of easy recipes make the summer heat far more bearable.

All you’ll need for this one is either a food processor (recommended), or a high powered blender, such as a Vitamix or one of the stronger Ninja blenders.

And if you want to get fancy and serve it the way Walt Disney World serves it (with that iconic Dole whip swirl), you’ll also need a piping bag. But I didn’t bother with that. I was too busy digging in!

Walt Disney World

It’s tough to spend a day at any Disney them park and not stop at an ice cream stand that serves those beloved Disney treats. They are a perfect balance of cold and sweet on a hot day.

And if you will be visiting for the first time, I can’t recommend this beloved dole whip enough. To me, dole whip = Disneyland. They go hand in hand.

What Is Pineapple Whip?

It’s essentially a cross between a pineapple sorbet and soft serve ice cream. And while I’ve seen some recipes that call for vanilla ice cream, the stuff at Disneyland is vegan. So they use frozen, fresh pineapple along with a dairy free alternative of some sort, just as I have with the recipe below.

Some recipes I’ve seen use up to a half cup coconut milk. But I find that coconut milk gives this too much of a “pina colada” flavor that really isn’t part of any finished dole whip recipe.

Real Ingredients

So what goes into pineapple whip other than delicious pineapple? While it might be tempting to use pineapple juice, don’t. You’ll only want to use frozen pineapple chunks for this. Here’s what you need:

2 cups frozen pineapple chunks – Make sure there is no added sugar. Read the ingredients!
1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk – Alternatives would be unsweetened oat milk, cashew milk, or just regular dairy milk.
2 tbsp. lemon juice – Either bottled, 100% lemon juice, or fresh squeezed from approximately 2 lemons. The choice is yours.
2 tbsp. sweetener – While a liquid sweetener, such as honey or maple syrup can be used here, I highly recommend using a granular sweetener. Depending on what you use, the color of the finished pineapple whip might change slightly, but it won’t change the flavor. I recommend Sucanat or monk fruit. I used xylitol because that’s what works best for my blood sugar.
1 pinch salt – Don’t skip this! It really helps bring out the sweetness of the pineapple. And yes, a pinch is an actual measurement. But you can wing it by adding a pinch with your fingers.

Psst!!! For an adult treat, you can whip a little rum into this. I haven’t tried it, but I’m guessing a tablespoon or two for flavor would do the trick while still keeping the frozen consistency.

If you want to add more rum, you’ll have to add more frozen pineapple and sweetener to keep the ice cream texture.

How To Make Pineapple Whip

Place all ingredients into a food processor and blend until smooth (about 2-4 minutes).

If you want the swirl, transfer the pineapple whip to a piping bag (cake bag) with a large drop flour tip and squeeze the whip into a bowl to serve. Otherwise, simply scoop with an ice cream scoop or spoon.

How To Store Pineapple Whip

If you can’t eat it right away, transfer it to an airtight storage container and keep in the fridge. Just know that it may have to sit on the counter a bit to thaw when you want to eat it. You may have to run it through the processor again to get the right consistency. This will keep in the freezer for up to 4 months.
